Some dude from yahoo answers had a cool question. Now, its obvious he hasnt taken my secret quiz, but ignore that, and focus on his question, and how I answer it.

Question: I’m talking about more distant friends and acquaintances inquiring about your dating life. I’m newly divorced and I was asked the “How’s single life?” and “Are you dating anyone?’ This is a nosy person and I didn’t feel like sharing anything at all, just a line to deflect the question. Give me some lines to use to not appear annoyed but to redirect the question to their new shoes or their cat or something.

Answer:

I usually answer with a question of my own. “Why do you want to know?” – They then respond either confused or give you a stupid reason. If they do, ask a further question like “and why is that?”. Eventually they figure out the question is stupid.
